Ship It!

So this week I took down my first round 5 Rounders tournament for $3,000. I played perfect Poker if there is such a thing and even though I went into HU behind I knew I was taking it down. Unfortunately Primas Hand History segment is poor so I can't share the momentus occasion with all you readers :*(

Aside from that I won two seats to the Pokerstars Million and one seat to the WCOOP HU event on Sunday and I only played for 2.5hrs in the afternoon. I just feel my game is where I want it just now and if I can stay tilt free the future is very bright.

Onto the million itself in fact you don't wanna hear another bad beat story lets just say 90% fav allin on turn and Riverstars gives us what its famed for :E

This is a very broken up and segmenty post but after checking my shift rota to see how I can play the EPT its looking like London that im gonna focus on. Will probably play a supersat this coming Saturday... So my new mini goals are as follows

Play the two PL events in the WCOOP
Play EPT London
Get an early start in the WPT PCA qualifiers and go back to the bahamas.
Keep cracking on with the Prima Rounders Tournaments for easy $$.

I did promise a guide to winning these and I will not disappoint.

Winning Prima Rounders Tournaments Part#1 by Matthew Milne

Round 1 Skip it. There are far too many bad beats and suckouts and with only two places getting paid its not worth the time or the effort.

Stick to low level sngs and work up between 10-20 buyins for the Round 2 level so $250 if your willing to gamble and $500 if your conservative.

Part 2 follows next month.

Enjoying poker (well just now at least)

Its been a fairly quiet week however I've managed to get some time online in. I've been playing the prima poker rounders tournaments again and am happy to annouce I've worked my $60 up to $1373 or something like that in Tournament credits.

Once I've cashed round 5 a couple of times (touch wood) Im going to write up a guide to playing these tournaments which I would hope can help any $20+ SNGer with a bit of time get a few large cashes.

The reason these tournaments are better than Party Poker's steps is that any rounds after round2 you qualify for you are not forced to play the next round. You can rack up the credits.

Working example:

Round 2 is a $25 + $2.50 buyin, if you finish first or second you win entry to round 3 the equivalent of a $112 + $12.50 buyin (that might not be the exact figure). The best part is you can either play round 3 OR play Round 2 another 4 times. big grin Even a bankroll neglecter like myself can't go wrong with this.

I suppose the downside is the credits are pretty much worthless unless you cash in a round 5 tournament (1st= $3,000, 2nd= $1,200, 3rd= $800 and 4th= $600) theres no selling the credits like you can with t$ or w$ on stars.

On another positive note I won a sattellite into the Sunday Million on stars last night, I've bought in directly the last 3-4 times I've played it as I hadn't been able to put in the time to play any satellites in the past. I didn't play though as I was close to falling asleep at 8pm BST so I just took the T$ and will probably play it next week or play two $112 tournies that they run at like 2am or something silly (Im on backshift on work next week).

So far the time being thats all my news still wish I was in Vegas as the ITH convention is next week but hey theres always next year.

PS*EDIT* Its not often I post non poker related stuff on the blog but this is far too funny for words. Truely the definition of pwned.

Amatuer Poker Tour launches in the UK

Just read this over at Blonde Poker. This is something that I am definitely interested in and it looks like it has some major clout landing pokerstars as a main sponsor. Here is the official press release :

www.apat.com
Amateur Poker Association & Tour Formed In UK

London, August 1, 2006 – Amateur Poker Limited, in association with PokerStars.com and PokerPlayer Magazine, today announced the formation of the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (the “APAT”).

The APAT is the world’s first combined Poker Association and Tour, and will hold its inaugural live event, the English Amateur Poker Championship, at the Broadway casino in Birmingham on September 23rd & 24th, 2006. Players will start the event with 10,000 in chips, and a structure designed to encourage creative play throughout.

The Tour, headline sponsored by the world’s leading tournament site PokerStars.com, will allow APAT members to take part in a series of high profile events with low entry fees, and with sponsor funding increasing the value of prizes considerably.

Season one will feature seven national and international events culminating in European and World Amateur Poker Championships. Each APAT event winner will receive a cash prize, an engraved Championship Cup and an expenses paid European Poker Tour or World Series Of Poker main event entry. In addition, the APAT will run an Online Series of nationally titled events on PokerStars.com, with the overall APAT player of the year winning an expenses paid trip to the sun to play in the PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure World Poker Tour event.

The Association, headline sponsored by PokerPlayer Magazine, will consult with gaming and industry bodies to enhance the player experience; with standardisation of rules, player friendly structures and event sponsorship at the top of its agenda. APAT news updates and detailed Tour reports will feature in each new issue of PokerPlayer Magazine, notably increasing the profile of each APAT event winner.

Tony Kendall, APAT Chairman, said: “I am delighted to be associated with the Amateur Poker Association & Tour, which I believe is a significant new development in European poker. The APAT will quickly become ‘the’ affordable proving ground for players wanting to realise their potential in high quality live events, and a guaranteed added value prize pool is great news for everyone. I look forward to welcoming players of all abilities to the APAT, and if it’s your first time in a casino environment, then we’re going to give you a truly memorable experience.”

Tamar Yaniv, European Director of Marketing at PokerStars.com, added: “PokerStars.com is passionate about poker in the UK, and the Amateur Poker Association & Tour shares our values in wanting to give their members the best tournament experience possible. Each player has a chance to win a national title and those who do will get the opportunity to fulfil their dream at a PokerStars.com European Poker Tour event or at the World Series Of Poker. We’re pleased to sponsor the APAT, and look forward to meeting members in cardrooms across the UK, and online at PokerStars.com.”

APAT Membership and Tournament registration can be obtained online at www.apat.com. Individual Membership of the Association will cost £10, while entry to the English Amateur Poker Championship will cost £67.50 with a registration fee of £7.50, subject to availability. Online qualification will be available at PokerStars.com for APAT’s international tournaments, starting with the European Amateur Poker Championship during the Easter holiday period, 2007.
